Antioch, California, March 17, 2020. Learning Squared Liberia on March 10, 2020, received a laudable donation of a check of five hundred United States Dollars from the CEO of Kendejah Restaurant in San Leandro, California.
Kendejah Restaurant, owned and operated by its founder and CEO Mr. Douglas Uso, is the Bay Area's first Liberian restaurant, and it's the first to bring a taste of authentic Liberian and African cuisine to the Bay Area in California.
Mr. Uso was born in Liberia and migrated to the United States when he was 15 years old. He left the shores of Liberia right before the outbreak of the violent civil conflict that lasted for over 14 years. Mr. Uso has never been back to the country since his childhood days.
But Mr. Uso has always kept in touch with his home country by working with Liberian organizations that are keen on creating a positive image for Liberia. "I established Kendejah Restaurant to tell the story of Liberia and provide hope for a better future through showcasing the authentic Liberian cuisine," he noted. Kendejah used to be a cultural center in Liberia, where artists visited to learn their crafts, drumming, dancing, painting, and many other traditional and cultural values in Liberia.
Mr. Uso reiterated his commitment to helping underprivileged children in Liberia realize their dreams and aspirations and through better education. He said, despite the current global crisis, this is the best time to look and give back to our respective communities and provide opportunities and hope to the many underprivileged children in Liberia. He further noted that it was his organization's little way of helping children of Liberia and to assist in building a better society for all Liberians. He promised to continue his support for Learning Squared in achieving their goals and objectives. By making education affordable for keeping children in school.
On his part, the President and CEO of Learning Squared Liberia Mr. Anthony S. Kolaco Sr. thanked the management of Kendejah Restaurant for the donation. He further urged other Liberians and non-Liberians to emanate the good examples of Mr. Uso and support initiatives back in Liberia as part of efforts to build a better society.
